New IOP Open Access Deal
The University of St Andrews has now signed up to a three-year Transitional Open Access deal with the Institute of Physics, negotiated by Jisc.
This deal will give all St Andrews corresponding authors open access at no additional cost, when publishing in one of the 44 IOP Hybrid journals. The average article processing charge is over $2000, so this marks a huge saving for researchers and the University, while also boosting the proportion of Open Access articles we publish. All articles will be published with a CC BY Creative Commons licence, which gives maximum benefit to researchers by granting users liberal sharing and reuse rights.
The deal is unlimited too, meaning all eligible articles will be made open access throughout the duration of the deal.
This deal will also reduce the administrative burden on researchers at the University, as IOP will automatically identify qualifying articles and publish them open access by default.
For those journals that are not part of the deal, IOP are also offering a 70% discount on the article processing charge.
