New deals with RSC and Thieme chemistry collection

We’re happy to announce that we have signed up to two more publisher deals, both of which are publishers of major Chemistry journals.

Royal Society of Chemistry Read and Publish deal

This two-year deal converts previous subscription spend into an allocation of Open Access articles – essentially vouchers. These vouchers are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. This is not unlike the now discontinued ‘Gold4Gold’ scheme RSC ran a number of years ago. Unlike Gold4Gold however the administration of the vouchers will be covered by RSC,  presenting a significant benefit to us.

To be recognised as eligible for a voucher, authors will need to be corresponding, and a St Andrews email address or affiliation needs to be used in the submission system.

Importantly, the deal covers RSC’s hybrid journal portfolio only and not fully open access journals, however RSC are also offering a 15% discount on APCs in fully open access journals, so if you’re considering submitting to one of these journals do get in touch with us to find out if we have funds available to assist with the charge.

Thieme Read and Publish deal – chemistry collection

We have also signed a deal with the German publisher Thieme, specifically covering their chemistry collection of journals which includes Synthesis and Synlett.

Unlike the RSC deal above, this one covers 100% of papers published by eligible authors. Authors will be recognised as eligible during submission provided they are corresponding, and they verify their St Andrews address and/or email during submission.

As ever the Open Access team are available to take enquiries, so do phone, Skype IM, or email if you have any questions about these deals. If you’d like to find out about other deals we have in place do check out our webpage.
